Alice L. Smith (73) went to her heavenly home on March 21, 2017. She was born April 3, 1943 and graduated from Montcalm High School in WV, then moved to Florida and graduated from UNF with a BA in Financial Accounting. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents: Arthur Hudgins and Ennis Miller Hudgins; brother, Elbert “Pee Wee” Hudgins; and nephew, Daniel Hudgins. Left to cherish her memories her husband of 53 years, the light of her life and whom she affectingly referred to as “A Southern Gentleman”, Richard Eugene Smith; her daughter, Kimberly Marie and her husband, Scott and their 2 sons: Aaron Bowman “Her Pet” along with his wife, Krysten and their daughter Lilly, and Jacob Bowman whom she was so looking forward to see graduate from high school. She loved her grandchildren. Her son Brian Smith and his wife, Cindy along with their children, Danielle whom she was very proud of and waiting to see her graduate from college and Chris Pierce and his wife Hannah along with their son, Benson. Her brother, Mark Hudgins and his wife Debbie along with their children: Allen, Amanda, Andrew and their spouses and children. Her sister-in-law, Priscilla Hudgins along with her children: Sheila and Carolyn and their spouses, children and grandchildren. A host of many other family members along with her church family and work family. Alice was still working after 39 years of service with the Federal Government. She loved her career and loved her children at work as she often referred to them as. She loved her church, Lane Avenue Church of God where she had attended for the past 50 years. Family will receive friends 6-8 PM, March 25, 2017 and funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, March 26, 2017 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS TOWN & COUNTRY FUNERAL HOME, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
