Teresa McKinney Klein

Teresa Lynn McKinney Klein, 63 of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully at her home on 9/7/2023. Teresa was born at St. Luke’s hospital in Jacksonville, Florida on 10/21/1959 to Eunice and Willie McKinney, the fifth out of seven children.

Teresa or “Terry” was a devoted wife, mother, and Catholic. Family came first, along with her faith in the Lord. While she grew up in a primarily Methodist and Baptist household, she found her strength in the Catholic church.

Teresa graduated from FJC in 1978, where she met her first husband, and father to her only child, Roy Hutchinson. Teresa later met the love of her life, Jerry Klein whom she married on 10/14/1995 in Savannah, Georgia and together they raised her daughter, Kristin, in Atlantic Beach.

Teresa worked throughout her life giving back to the community and serving the public through various positions such as the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, State of Florida - Department of Children and Family, Atlantic Beach Police Department, and the City of Neptune Beach among others. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and helped provide assistance to those in need through the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. Teresa was a music enthusiast and an animal lover. She loved going to see live concerts and traveling with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristin Hutchinson and sister Michele(Albert) McKinney, her brothers Andrew(Pat) and Michael(Lisa) McKinney, uncle Jim Dixon, special niece Kim Schaefer, her extended family in Jacksonville, Florida and throughout the states including(but not limited to) cousins, nephews, and nieces; her beloved cats, especially her “very faithful and devoted” Heidi-Cat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her nephew Daniel Moore, her siblings Dianne(Herbert) Bannister, W. Lawrence McKinney(survived by JoAnn McKinney), and F. Steven McKinney(survived by Sandi McKinney).

Funeral arrangements will be held at 11:00 AM on 9/22/2023 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11665 Ft.Caroline Rd, Jacksonville, Florida 32225 with a reception to follow afterward.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to honor Teresa through the Susan G. Komen foundation or American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals(ASPCA)
