Rick was born to Richard S. Rachal, Jr. and Margaret Lynn Clark Rachal on November 4, 1959 in Alexandria, Louisiana.
He graduated from Leesville High School where he was a National Merit Scholar and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Louisiana State University.
While at LSU, Richard met Allene McIntosh, and they later wed on February 18, 1984.
Rick worked as a geologist for the Superior Oil Company and Gulf Oil Company in Texas. In 1991, he and Allie moved to the First Coast and Rick went to work for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. He obtained his professional geologist certification while working there.
In his younger days, Rick played rugby for local clubs and later enjoyed watching and yelling from the sidelines. He enjoyed watching a variety of sports and learning as much as he could about them.
Rick was an avid reader and studied many areas that interested him.
He loved animals and always had at least one cat and one dog as pets.
He loved all things Louisiana including New Orleans, music, Mardi Gras, food, Saints and especially the LSU Tigers. He had many charitable organizations that were close to his heart. He was a member of St. Paul’s by the Sea Episcopal Church and volunteered at the Cold Night Shelter.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Richard S. Rachal, Jr. and Margaret C. Rachal.
He is survived by his wife, Allene M. Rachal, his dog Zoey, his cats, K2, Grey, his brother Robert “Rocky” Rachal (Paula) of Greensboro, North Carolina, nephew Tyler Rachal of Greensboro North Carolina and sister M. Lynn-Leigh Rachal of Jacksonville, Florida.
The Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 30th 2022, from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm,at
Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home Beaches Chapel, 1701 Beach Blvd Jacksonville Beach FL, 32250
The Funeral Service will be on December 1st 2022, 10:00 am at St. Paul’s by the Sea Episcopal Church with Interment to follow at Lee Kirkland Cemetery, Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you donate in Rick’s name to B.E.A.M. (Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry, 850 6th Avenue South, Suite 400, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250).
