Raul M. Fajardo, 84, of Jacksonville Beach, passed away February 15, 2019. He was born in Dumalag, Capiz, Phillipines on June 17, 1934. Raul graduated from Dumalag High School. He was married to Lydia on May 22, 1964 until the time of her death in 2009.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Mess Management Specialist until retirement. After military service, Raul returned to Jacksonville with his family and was a chef with the Sea Turtle Inn. He volunteered for more than 30 years as the main usher at St. Paul's Catholic Church. He is a member of the Fil-Am Club, Knights of Columbus and had a passion for his Catholic faith, cooking, gardening, and listening to music.
Raul is survived by his son, Mike; daughters Mary Ann and Leila; and grandchildren, Brooke, Blake and Bryce.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 435 1st Avenue North, Jacksonville Beach. Interment with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Beaches Memorial Park, 1500 Main St., Atlantic Beach.
