Marjorie Claire Breaux Nugent, 86, passed away December 19, 2010 at the McGraw Center for Caring with her children by her side. Marjorie was born June 14, 1924 in Bayou La Fouche, Louisiana to the late Ida Marie and Scuddy Breaux, Sr. She was the youngest of eight children. Marjorie and her siblings were raised in New Orleans. In 1940, Marjorie met the love of her life, Charles V. Nugent, Jr. They married on August 24, 1946 upon his return home from WWII. Together they moved to Birmingham, Alabama where Charles was a sales representative. In 1959 Charles and Marjorie relocated to Jacksonville Beach where they raised three children, Chuck, Chris and Tina and where Marjorie was a longtime parishioner and school board member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. She was also a volunteer at St. Luke’s/Mayo Clinic. Mom was known for her quick wit and gentle spirit. She loved cooking, especially her native New Orleans cuisine. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles, her siblings, Clifton, Alvin, Scuddy, Jr., Ira, Cyril, Lois and Inez. Survivors include her three children, Charles “Chuck” and his wife, Roberta, Chris Matthew and his wife Pamela, daughter, Tina Louise; grandchildren, Jenah Elise, Charles “Chaz”, Ashley and great-grandson, Aidan and numerous nieces and nephews; beloved companions, Toby & Emilie and dear friend Irene Jumber. A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29th at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with Fr. William Kelly presiding. Inurnment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL. The family wishes to thank Dr. Randy Wainwright, the Staff @Jax Heart Center, the team @ Baptist Neurology esp. Dr. Amy Jarvis and PA Scott Siegel and the staff at McGraw Center for their kind and compassionate care during Mom’s illness. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
