Margaret Russell Scully, 90, died peacefully at her home in Jacksonville Beach, Florida on August 15, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Howard and Juliette Russell; her husband John F. Scully; siblings Nellie (Elmore) Pinder and Buddy Russell.
She leaves one daughter Johnna (Del) Ware; two grandchildren, Lynn (Bill) Conover and Karen (Chris Tasker) Keys; three great-grandchildren, Christopher Griffin, Jonathan Griffin and Jessica Conover; one sister Ruth Elwood; extended family and numerous friends.
Margaret spent most of her life in Key West. She was extremely proud to be a fifth generation Conch. She moved to Jacksonville Beach in her later years to be closer to family. Margaret graduated from Key West High School and Florida Keys Community College. She worked at the Naval Station Key West retiring after 30 years of service. Margaret was an active, lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Key West. She was especially involved in youth activities, teaching Sunday School and serving as Youth Director. Upon moving to Jacksonville Beach she attended Christ United Methodist Church and focused on mission work.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 19th at noon at Christ United Methodist Church, 400 Penman Road, Neptune Beach. At her request, memorial contributions should be made to the Madison Youth Ranch, PO Box 38, Pinetta, Florida 32350.
