Mabel Moore Henderson, 88, longtime resident of the Jacksonville, FL area, passed away Sept 27, 2013. She was a native of Fernandina Beach, FL. Mabel graduated Salutatorian of Fernandina Beach High School, class of 1944. Mabel married Lt Ronald B. Henderson on May 14, 1954. They lived together in matrimony for 53 years before he preceded her in death in 2007.
Mabel was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Beaches Newcomers Club and an active member of Christ United Methodist Church. Mabel enjoyed crafts, gardening, music and spending time with family and friends. Mabel is survived by her daughter, Ronda Stegner (David), sister Irene Smith of Fernandina Beach, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A visitation is scheduled for 6-8pm Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd Jacksonville Beach, FL. Church service will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 1pm at Christ United Methodist Church, 400 Penman Rd, Neptune Beach, FL. A graveside service will follow at Bosque Bello Cemetery, 1320 N. 14th St. Fernandina Beach, FL.
