John Michael "Mike" Edwards

John Michael "Mike" Edwards, age 68, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Oak Ridge, TN, passed away on January 29th of 2022.

Mike was born on November 20, 1953, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in Dalton, Georgia. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School, Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1971, and then University of Tennessee with a Bachelors of Science in Transportation/Logistics.

He married Kathy May Edwards on July 18th of 1981.

Mike had a career in transportation, serving as vice president for major regional trucking companies, overseeing successful expansion of sales and operations across the United States.

In high school, he was a member of the Oak Ridge Wildcats Baseball team and coached recreational teams after graduation.

He was also active in Boy Scouts in Oak Ridge and in Exploring until graduating high school. He had a passion for his family, grandchildren and life-long friendships.

Mike was predeceased by his mother Betty Lucille Beal Edwards, maternal grandparents John Mac Beal and wife, Lillian Beal, paternal grandparents Murray Edwards and wife Eddie Clark Edwards and in-laws John and Willie Kate Miller May.

Mike is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathy; daughter Katherine "Katie" Lucille Walls, and husband Johnathan Walls, of Nashville, and their four children: John Henry Walls, Marilyn Lucille Walls, Katherine Grace Walls, and William Michael Walls; as well as his father William M. Edwards, Sr. of Nashville; and his brother William M. Edwards, Jr. of Nashville; and his brother-in-law and wife, John D and Lynda Flynn May; nephews, John Christopher May (Anna Skold), Michael David May; great nephew Lucas Emerson May and great niece Sonya Marie May, all of Atlanta. GA.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later time.
