Alfred Christian Bowen, MD, age 81 passed away in Jacksonville, FL, July 27, 2015. Dr. Bowen graduated from Tulane University and University of Miami School of Medicine. His internship and residences in general surgery and otolaryngology were at Jackson Health System, Miami, FL.
Dr. Bowen had offices in Coral Gables, FL., Marathon and Key West, FL., with surgery staff privileges at hospitals in Miami and the Florida Keys. Dr. Bowen was a fellow of American College of Surgeons, International College of Surgeons, Academy of Otolaryngology, member of the University Club Miami and Rotary.
Dr. Bowen is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Joy Harris Bowen, 2 sons, Christian Bowen, Hayes Bowen, wonderful Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Al was a fisherman, diver, boater, snow skier, hunter and loved the water and outdoors.
There will be a private family service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Florida Boys Ranch or Humane Society would be appreciated.
