Buddy was born on January 17, 1944 in Bemis, TN, the son of the late William Clyde and Irma Lee Rogers. He was a graduate of South Side High School in the class of 1962. Buddy was an HVAC Technician for Johnson Controls for 29 years. He loved hunting, fishing, working in the yard, and spending time with his family. One time, he claimed he caught "the big one," but it got away. Buddy enjoyed spending time at the Liar's Table at Bonwood Cafe. He and Linda are members of Meridian Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sister, Doris Eason and Nancy Phillips.
He is survived by the love his life, his wife of 47 years and 3 months, Linda Tedford Rogers of Jackson; his son, Eric Rogers (Cheryl) of Jackson and daughter, Gail Lewis (Charley) of Jackson; his grandchildren, Dylan Marcom (Casey) of Jackson, Chad Lewis (Robin) of Jackson, Ashley Rogers of Huntsville, AL and Brandi Slaughter (Nick) of Jackson; four great grandchildren, Nolan Marcom, Gavin Slaughter, Brent Porter, and Channing Lewis all of Jackson; his sister, Shirley Held (Rene) of Springfield, VA; his little sidekick, Peanut; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Bro. Larry Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
Active pallbearers to serve will be Jeff Weaver, Chad Lewis, Danny Eason, Nick Slaughter, Ronnie Mitchell, and Tracy Jeter. Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan Marcom and Charley Lewis.
