Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2013 at 2 p.m., in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Bobby was born on March 30, 1931 in Jackson, TN to the late Guy and Alberta Key Day. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Bobby was a member of Parkview Baptist Church, Alchymia Shriners Temple, and he was a 33rd Degree Mason, and was a member of St. John's Lodge #332.
He was a bricklayer by trade and eventually became a very successful general contractor. He was a self-made, generous man who worked hard and was devoted to his family.
Bobby was an avid outdoorsman. His greatest passion was fishing, especially with his sons and grandsons. He is considered by many to be the Bill Dance of Jackson. Bobby fished up until his was 81 years old.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Crow; a sister, Dorothy Nell; and a brother, Guy Thomas "Gabo" Day.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janis Killough Day of Jackson, TN; two sons, Danny Day (Judy) of LaFayette, GA and Jim Day (Janeil) of Jackson, TN; five grandchildren, Heather Kee (Jonathan), Dylan Day, Slayton Day, Robert Day (Brandi) and Amanda Lewis (Matthew); and three great-grandchildren, Arteem, Colby and Hannah Day.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons.
