Nellie Azbill Wyatt, 94, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Born on July 30, 1930, in Madison County, Tennessee, Nellie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was defined by love, creativity, and resilience.
A homemaker with a gift for sewing, Nellie was a talented seamstress renowned for her beautiful baby blankets and quilts. Her handcrafted creations, cherished by many, were sold at local flea markets, where they brought joy to countless families. Her work reflected her care, attention to detail, and love for her community.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Leon Wyatt; her sons, Keith Wyatt and Jeff Wyatt; her sisters, Golden Azbill Watlington, Zula Azbill, Zella Azbill Carney, Opal Azbill Williams, Mable Azbill Webb, and Bonnie Azbill Raney; and her brothers, Hubert Azbill and Ruble Azbill.
She is survived by her son, Rickey Wyatt; her grandchildren, David Wyatt (Jessica), Wesley Wyatt, Josh Wyatt, Waylon Wyatt (Leigha), and Will Wyatt (Lesha); and eight beloved great-grandchildren.
A graveside service to celebrate Nellie’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Highland Memorial Gardens. Her grandsons will honor her memory by serving as pallbearers.
Nellie Azbill Wyatt will be remembered for her steadfast devotion to her family, her remarkable talent as a seamstress, and the warmth and kindness she extended to everyone she met. Her legacy lives on in her family and in the treasured creations she lovingly crafted.
