Joe Lee Morris

He was born on March 6, 1945 in Chester County Tennessee to Jodie and Flora (Jordan) Morris. Joe married Janice Stanfill on November 7, 1962; they resided in Jackson, TN and spent 58 remarkable years together. In his early years Joe worked at Wonder Bread where he became branch manager. He became a well-known Insurance Agent and opened Joe Morris Agency owning this until his retirement.

He was a member of Meridian Baptist Church where he was Deacon and faithful friend to many. He was also a member of the South Jackson Civitan Club for many years, providing help for community needs.

Joe loved traveling; he and Janice traveled to Germany, Greece, Quebec, Hawaii and visited many areas in the continental US with their favorite being The Great Smoky Mountains. Joe also enjoyed his 1957 Chevy, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and attending baseball games of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid fan of the Tennessee Vols and enjoyed watching football, basketball and baseball.

Joe is survived by his two daughters Karen Collins (Travis) and Lisa Morris, five grandchildren Kristen Hemby (Grant), Dustin Cupples (Amber), Kourtney Leech (Randall), Hailey Fielding and Kaylee Gibbons. Eight great grandchildren Connor Quarles, Hope Wood, Ryker Leech, Gavin and Bryce Cupples, Tenley and Ford Hemby and Brixton Fielding.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janice, granddaughter Hillery Collins, brothers Edward, Earl and Gene Morris, sister Lavern Lott.

Services will be held on Friday December 6, 2024 at Meridian Baptist Church Jackson, TN. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery.
