Mr. Ferrell was born on September 30, 1941 in Friendship, TN, the son of the late James Floyd Ferrell, Sr. and Nettie Ann Elizabeth Edwards Ferrell. After earning his Doctor of Pharmacy, he worked for many years as a pharmacist at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He then went on to be the Director of the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy. He finished his career as a pharmacist for the VA Hospital in Nashville. He worked over 50 years as a pharmacist before his retirement.
One of his great loves was to spend time with his grandchildren, especially vacationing with them at the river, the beach, or Gatlinburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles W. Ferrell, Bobbie Jean Ferrell, and James Edward Ferrell.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Allen Ferrell; his children, Joseph Tate, Regina Ferrell, Traci Tate, and Jim Ferrell (Jennifer); grandchildren, Alexis Wong (Christopher Gulka), Kristen Wong, Anna Ferrell, Seaton Ferrell, and Carter Ferrell; and a sister in law, Betty Ferrell.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 11 a.m. – 1p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. A private graveside service for family will follow the visitation.
