James "Jimmy" Blackmon

Mr. James L. “Jimmy” Blackmon, 58 of Medina, passed away on Sunday May 8, 2011. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday May 12, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons, with burial to follow in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery in Medina.

Mr. Blackmon was born on February 22, 1953, to the late Claxton and Betty Ann Piercey Blackmon in Humboldt, TN. After 30 years of service, he proudly retired as a State Trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and was a devout member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Blackmon of Medina, daughter Alisa Blackmon of Camden, son, Kevin (Rebecca) Blackmon of Nashville; grandsons Justin Mondrage and Josh (Rachel) Mondrage of Nashville. Sisters Betsy Autry, Barbara Blackmon-Fortune (Bil), and Molly Ward (Alan); brothers, John Blackmon (Vickie) and Billy Blackmon (Karen). Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother in law Billy Joe Autry and his grandparents, Leonard and Aline Piercey and Edward and Rosa Blackmon.

A Visitation for Mr. Blackmon will be held on Tuesday May 10, 2010 from 4:00pm until 8:00 pm at Plunk Funeral Home in Camden, TN, and on Wednesday May 11 2011, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel, and will resume on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 2:00pm
