Hilda was born March 24, 1941 in jackson, TN. She resided most of her life in the Beech Bluff and Jackson area. She graduated from Beech Bluff High School in 1959, where she was a cheerleader for the basketball team and was also a member of the BETA club. Hilda married Bobby Weaver on May 30, 1958 and they were married for 64 years. They were together most of the time and always said they were meant for each other. They loved each other until the very end.
Hilda had a love for children like no other. She owned and operated Tot and Tyke Day Care Center for 20 years. She worked for Jackson Electric Department for 16 years where she answered as a night dispatcher for trouble calls. If you called the Electric Department in the 1970's Monday through Friday nights this is the lady you talked to. Late in life, Hilda and Bobby owned and operated Park and Eat Restaurant for 12 years until they retired. They had many friends who ate with them regularly. After retirement, they moved to the country and later returned back to Jackson. Bobby and Hilda loved to travel, they visited several countries including Europe, England, France, italy, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Liechtenstein, Venice, Monaco, Canada, and Mexico. They visited almost every state within the USA. For years, they traveled to Florida and resided as snowbirds.
She loved her God, husband, family, and friends. Hilda enjoyed her flowers, playing cards, watching Lady Vols basketball, her home and her dogs. Most of those who knew her referred to her as Ernie. Ernie loved to cook and could cook like no other. She would create new recipes and tried them out on Moe (Bobby). She loved to cater and enjoyed working in that field for 8 years.
Ernie raised her children, children in daycare, grandchildren, great grandchildren. To say she was the backbone of our family is an understatement. We were all blessed to share our lives with such a beautiful woman with such a giving soul. Her family can look through the generations that she bore and touched and know she lives within each one of us.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Annie Kemp; her daughter, Teresa Lynn Solberg; her brothers, Robert Kemp and Charles Kemp; and her sister, Hazel Blackwell.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Weaver; her children, David Weaver (Donna Oliver) and Vicki Smith (Mark); She is also survived by four grandchildren, Amber Cox (Shane), Britany Phillips (late Justin), Hunter Smith, and Houston Smith; and five great grandchildren, Sara, Madison, and Brayden Cox and Alivia and Levi Phillips. She also is survived by a great granddaughter, Haven Grace Smith and her great great granddaughter, Blake Leigh Jacobs, due this fall.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Dr. Philip Jett officiating.
