Helen Marie Davis

She was born December 19, 1935 in Humboldt, TN, the daughter of the late Joe L. Reeves and the late Pauline Forsythe Reeves.

If you had the good fortune of meeting Helen you were quickly a friend. There is no doubt you learned all about her family and how proud she was of them. If she really liked you, she probably even gifted you a knitted dishrag or two. Helen had many accomplishments in her life, including being the first female school bus driver in Madison County and owning multiple grocery stores in Middle and West Tennesse. After an early retirement, she spent her time traveling with friends and family, hunting, fishing, and making her home on Kentucky Lake.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Davis; two sons, Michael Lee Forsythe and Gary Paul Forsythe; a sister, Louise Forsythe Henley; and a brother, Joe Carl Reeves.

Helen is survived by her three sons, Jimmy Forsythe (Freda), Jessie Forsythe (Cindy), and David Forsythe (Gail); a daughter in law, Susan Forsythe; two sisters, Sherry Stephens and Ruth Ann Davis; ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Helen left a lasting impression on everyone she met, and her spirit will live on in all of us that loved her.

A service to celebrate the life of Helen Davis will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Harvey Lovelace officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at a visitation on Wednesday evening, September 18, 2024 from 4-6 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons and again on Thursday beginning at 12 noon, one hour prior to the service.
