A Memorial service for Harold Edwin “Butch” Evans Jr., age 68, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 21st at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, followed by visitation and reception at 4 p.m. Pastors John White and Sharon Junn will be officiating.
Butch passed away during the early morning of February 19, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Butch is survived by his wife, Nelda Barnes Evans; daughter, Traci Evans Carney of Jackson; son-in-law, Robert “Trey” B. Carney III of Jackson, and son, Cory Evans of Memphis. He has four grandchildren, Reagan Carney, Hayes Carney, Josie Carney, and James Tyler Evans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Edwin Evans, Sr. of Clarksdale, MS and Blondie Collins Bearden of Alexandria, LA.
Butch was born in Clarksdale, MS and was employed many years by William R. Moore based in Memphis and Endicott Johnson based in Binghamton, NY. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson where he served as a Deacon and Elder for several years and taught youth Sunday School class. He spent the last several years of his life watching his favorite sports teams and spending time with his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be directed to the National MS Society or First Presbyterian Church of Jackson.
