On July 10, 2024 surrounded by the family she so loved, God peacefully welcomed Dorothy Jean Neely Williams from this life into eternal life in Heaven. Her positive attitude, sunny disposition, courageous spirit and faith were ever present.
Dorothy was born on December 18th, in Huntersville, TN, the daughter of Harvey and Dessie Douglas Neely. She was an honor graduate of Northside High School and a member of the band. She also was a graduate of West TN Business College, and took extensive medical courses at the University of TN at Martin. She was a member of Alpha Lamba Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. After working 10 years at the State of TN Vocational Rehab Office, she left fulltime employment to have her children and worked part-time with Dr. Hill, Anesthesiologist.
When her children were in grade school, she returned to fulltime employment as a Medical Assistant with the Medical Clinic for 20 years. After leaving the clinic, she was County Coordinator at RIFA Senior Service Programs and the Alzheimer’s Respite Care Coordinator, previous to retiring.
Even after retiring, Dorothy continued to work at the Madison County Courthouse and volunteered at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital for 17 years, with her daughter. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Star Center for many years and was chosen Volunteer of the Year. Being an Avon Representative, in her later years, brought much enjoyment to her as she enjoyed seeing her many friends.
Dorothy was much cherished by her family, being a positive encourager and someone who saw the good in every situation, always with a sweet smile on her face. Her mind was quick and witty, with a keen sense of humor and a delightful lively spirit. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, crocheting, sewing, playing the piano and big band music, her favorite was Lawrence Welk. She was a Christian, a devoted friend, flower gardener, dog owner, wife and mother.
She will be greatly missed until reuniting in Heaven with her daughter, Donna Lynn Williams and son, Danny Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Billy E. Williams, and brother James Neely.
She had been a lifelong member of Ararat Baptist Church. Her Celebration of Life services will be at the graveside at Ararat Baptist Church, Jackson, Tn Saturday, July 13, at 11:00 am.
