She was born on August 18, 1947 in Jackson to the late I.B. and Geraldine Sanders. She was a graduate of South Side High School. After high school, she attended Union University where she earned her Bachelor's in Elementary Education. Cheryl also went on to earn her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Memphis State.
Cheryl was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, and friend. She was a teacher for 34 years in the Jackson-Madison County School System. She enjoyed teaching a variety of grades from first through fifth grade. She taught at Lincoln, Highland Park, and Arlington Elementary. Cheryl enjoyed supporting Union University ladies basketball, serving as a Girl Scout troop leader, and her church family at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivy Brooks and Geraldine Sanders.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip Cleo Lovett; her daughter, Amelia Elizabeth Morrison (William Bryant); her two grandchildren, Matthew Brooks and Alex James Morrison; her sister, Susan Leigh Wyatt (David Wayne); two nieces, Danielle Camilla Webb (Sean) and Emma Grace Wyatt; two great nephews, David and Bear Webb; and one great niece, Penelope Webb.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. officiated by Rev. Barry Scott of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens
