Born on August 24, 1927, in Jackson, TN, to Kenneth and Mary Kirby, Betty lived a life marked by dedication to her family, her faith, and her community.
Betty worked for over 60 years in the food service department at Jackson Madison County General Hospital, where her hard work and kindness touched countless lives. She was also a faithful member of Brown’s United Methodist Church, where she was the oldest living member. Her presence will be deeply missed by her church family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Neil Wilkerson DeLoach; her parents, Kenneth and Mary Kirby; her daughter, Barbara Lynn DeLoach Butler; and her sister, Peggy Kirby McCutcheon.
Betty is survived by her son, Thomas DeLoach (Barbara); her grandchildren, Brian Spencer (Lydia), Jennifer Holloway (Eddie), Justin Butler, Russ DeLoach (Emily), and Abby DeLoach; ten great-grandchildren; and her niece, Brenda Atherton. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 12:00 noon at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons, with burial to follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Brown’s Church, 181 McLeary Rd., Jackson, TN.
Betty’s legacy of love, service, and faith will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
