He graduated from Tate High School and attended Perkinston Junior College where he met the love of his life, Gayle. He worked as an Insurance Agent for State Farm in the greater Jackson area for 38 years. After his retirement he became known as the "Tomato King" and enjoyed sharing his homegrown tomatoes with everyone he met. He was a longtime member of Parkway Baptist Church where he taught adult Sunday School. His greatest passion was teaching God's word in his community and on numerous international mission trips. His life motto was "Jesus + Nothing Else".
