He was born in McAlester, Oklahoma in 1924 and grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma during the Great Depression and the Oklahoma Dust Bowl.
During World War II he served in the Army Air Force in both the European and Asiatic-Pacific theaters.
After the war, he returned to his native Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in geology.
His career as a Petroleum Geologist in Oklahoma, Texas and Mississippi spanned five decades.
He was a long-time member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Jackson, Mississippi.
Perry is survived by his wife, Helen Manton Barnhart of Brandon, MS and his son, Perry David Barnhart (Annette) of Starkville, MS.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Lakewood Memorial Park.
