Mary Ann Simpson Barron, 80, passed away Saturday August 31, 2013. Funeral services will be 11:30am Wednesday September 4, 2013 at Briarwood Presbyterian Church preceded by visitation at 10:00am. The family will also receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday September 3, 2013 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mary Ann was retired from the Internal Revenue Service after a longtime career with the federal government. She was an Elder at Briarwood Presbyterian Church, a life-time member of Presbyterian Women, immediate Past-President of the Jackson Council of Garden Clubs, a Toastmaster, and a Certified Master Gardner.
Mary Ann was a grand adventurer who lived a very active life that saw her travel extensively around the world. She had previously lived in Alaska, which became the 49th state during this time, with her husband during his enlistment in the US Air Force from 1957-1960. One of her favorite stories is when they returned from Alaska to Tennessee in their 1957 Triumph TR3 sports car.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Laura Ann Terrabone. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Howard Barron of Jackson; son, John Barron of Jackson; granddaughter, Lyndsey Ann Terrebone of Jackson; sister, Sue Lewis of Kingsport, TN; and close friend and traveling companion, Christina Cannon Boteler of Brandon.
