James R. Thornton

Visitation will be held on Saturday. August 5, 2023 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, MS. Funeral Services to follow visitation at 3:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial Park located at 6000 Clinton Boulevard in Jackson, MS.

Ricky was born on April 1, 1954 in Jackson, MS to the late James Beutell Thornton and Mavis (Street) Thornton. He married June (Frazier) Thornton on April 18, 1987. He retired from Sears as a TV and stereo technician. He also retired as a technician from the Highway Patrol of MS and the Mississippi Department of Transportation. He liked to work on and fix many types appliances but especially stereos. He was a season ticket holder at the MS Braves Stadium for years and enjoyed going to all the home games with his wife, daughter, and granddaughter. He loved to be outdoors and spending time with the family dog, Ticket.

Mr. Thornton is survived by his wife, June F. Thornton; daughter, Jade Gail Thornton; and granddaughter, Abigail Rose King.

A small gathering will follow services at Mama’s Kitchen, 934 N. Church St., Florence, MS 39073.
