In his youth, he worked as a welder for Capital Welding in Jackson.
James, known to many as “Uncle Man” or “Uncle Buddy” loved sitting on the porch and waving to his neighbors, watching wrestling on TV, and attending services every Sunday and Wednesday at Fellowship Baptist Church where he was a member for over forty years. He was very close to his church family and they have provided great comfort to him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James M. Blackwell, Sr. and Johnny Lee Hughes Blackwell, and his beloved sister, Linda Blackwell McMorris.
He is survived by his sister, Jackie Blackwell Wamnes, three children, a nephew, nieces and their children.
Visitation will be at Lakewood Funeral Home at 10:00 am on Friday, October 21, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am.
