Gerald G. Dyar Sr. "Buddy"

Gerald G. Dyar, Sr. “Buddy”, born October 12, 1925 to Lionel and Faye Roberts Dyar in Lumberton, MS. Buddy graduated from Forest Hill High School in Jackson, MS. He met and married “The Love of His Life”, Margrie Shepherd Dyar. They were married for 68 years, until her death in June 2012.

Buddy was manager of Kinney Shoes on New Warrington Road from 1959 – 1968; he then became District Auditor for Kinney’s/Footlocker. He and Margrie traveled all over the U.S.A., NY and Hawaii. Retiring in 1991 after 46 years with Kinney’s/Footlocker, he was given a huge retirement party by Kinney’s. Then they were able to spend more time at their cabin in Sylva, North Carolina; always welcoming friends and family with open arms and a smile.

Buddy and Margrie were devoted members of Brownsville Baptist Church since 1959.

He leaves behind his loving family; son, Jerry Dyar (Liz) of Gulf Breeze; daughters, Dianne Dyar Guy Senn of Pensacola and Barbara Dyar Daniels (Andy) of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Shelley Guy Reynolds Clabaugh (Mark), Kim Turpin (Raymond) of NC, Trey Dyar (Kimberly) of NC, Vanessa Dyar, Michael Daniels (Castle) and Mark Daniels (Christine) all of San Diego, CA, sister, Carlos Ann (Larry) Iles, Jackson, MS; sister-in-law, Loyce Dyar; 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lionel and Hilton Dyar; grandchildren, Jodie Lynn Dyar and Jeffery L. Guy.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 09, 2017 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home, Jackson, MS with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
