George was born to James Edward and Ida Mae Jones on September 27, 1945 in Pascagoula, Mississippi, but grew up in Jackson where he graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1963. He worked as a machinist for Riverwood International (former Continental Can) until his retirement. He, also, loved working with the guys at Morris Import.
He had 4 Children: Lorie Wolverton (Michael) of Crystal Springs , Kristie Abbey (Mike) of Madison, James Jones (Erin) of Spring Hill, TN and Brian Jones (Maegan) currently stationed in Iwakuni, Japan. He was a father figure to many, especially Cortney and Cory Scruggs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jimmy Jones and his sister Donna Morris.
He is survived by his sister Patricia Lewis of Brandon and his children. He had 7 grandchildren that he loved dearly: Megan Langford, Taylor Abbey, Jacob Abbey, Payton Jones, Bree Jones, Caden Jones, and Brady Jones, and 2 great grandchildren: Riley Collins and Zoey Langford. He loved keeping up with nieces and nephews Michelle, Jon, Demarla Michael and Susie and their families.
George was a member of Christ Life in Raymond. He was an avid classic car enthusiast and loved antique shopping.
He was proud to call Clinton, MS his home for the past 30 years. He will be missed tremendously by his family and friends at Kroger and Waffle House.
