Cornelia C. Farlow was born to "Bertie" and Lavis Sides on January 4, 1923 in Williamsville, MS. She was raised by her maternal grandmother "Granny Ross" after her mom died at a young age. She attended grade school in Williamsville. After moving to Jackson when completing grade school, she met her husband Joe Farlow while working at Seale Lily Ice Cream. After getting married, they moved to New Orleans because Joe was hired to work at Delta Ship Yard as a certified pipe welder, where large tankers were built for the WWII war effort. While they were in New Orleans, she attended Moler Beauty College and received her certification and licensing in cosmetology. After WWII they moved back to Jackson where she worked at a well known beauty shop in downtown Jackson. At the age of 50 Cornelia accepted the invitation to a new career in jewelry sales, traveling the entire state of Mississippi. At the age of 70 she reentered her sons' business, taking over where she had left off in the mid 80's. By 84, she moved closer to her family in Brandon. Doing for her family, which survivors include her son Ronnie Farlow, daughter Laquita Tharp (Ricky), grandchildren Jeremy Tharp (Heidi), Ronda Hofsass (Josh), Ross Farlow (Taylor), great grandchildren Tinley Rae Hofsass, Steeley Hofsass, Atoli Tharpe, and Kase Farlow are what brought a smile to her face. She was always looking for what she could do for them.
Cornelia was an active member of Alta Woods Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was loved by many many many cherished friends and family. With her faith, there was nothing impossible to her!
Cornelia went peacefully into the arms of Jesus Friday October 15, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 19 at Lakewood Funeral Home at 12:00, with visitation from 10:00 to 12:00.
