Clifford Lee Cargill, 50, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home on Saturday, July 28, 2018 with funeral services to follow. Interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Cliff was born in Memphis, TN on November 15, 1967. He owned Cargill Firearms Consulting, LLC.
Cliff met the love of his life, Christa on the day after Valentine’s Day in 1988. As soon as Cliff saw Christa he instantly knew that he had met the woman he was going to marry. The two wedded on August 19th of 1989. Cliff and Christa would have been married for 29 years in August of 2018. The couple waited 9 years before having their first son, Blaise on November 4th of 1998 and their second son Clive on December 16th of 2000. Cliff Cargill was an adamant entrepreneur. He started promoting and hosting his own concerts at only 17 years of age. He waited tables and bartended in restaurants in the Jackson metro area such as Hal & Mal’s, befriending the owners, Hal and Malcolm White. Cliff also owned restaurants and clubs such as The Edge, The University Pub and The Depot alongside his childhood friend, Chris Painter. Cliff also worked as a carpenter and was a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department. Not long after Cliff found his passion for firearms. Cliff became a certified NRA firearms instructor in 1992 and later became a USCCA instructor and training counselor. Cliff competed in pistol competitions for many years acquiring an outstanding 13 state championships. Cliff had a passion for teaching and many other things. His family is comforted by the fact that he passed doing what he loved.
Preceding Cliff in death are his grandparents, Thomas “D-Daddy” McWhirter and Virginia “Nanny” McWhirter.
He is survived by his wife, Christa Cargill; sons, Thomas Blaise Cargill and Clive Godwin Cargill; mother, Barbara M Cargill; uncles, James McWhirter (Jane) and Hunter McWhirter; cousins, Jay McWhirter and Amy Ingram; father in law, James “Skip” Brister (Teri); brother in law, Irfan Syed; sisters in law, Dana Syed, Angela Patterson and Bonnie Patterson (Perry); nephews, Imran Syed, Mohsin Syed, and Zahid Syed; and close family members, Nicole Buffington, Gerad Buffington and Mike Schwarz.
