Betty was born to R.A. and Louise Tullos on November 11th, 1936 in Rowlands, Mississippi. She spent her school years in Greenwood, Mississippi before graduating from Vicksburg High School in 1954. She went to Mississippi College where she met her lifelong sweetheart, John Wallis Legg, whom she married on December 23, 1956. She graduated from Mississippi College in 1958. John and Betty had three children: David, Diane and Linda. She worked as a financial secretary and preschool teacher at First Baptist Church Clinton for several years before working as a bookkeeper and secretary for Delta Learning and then serving in several administrative positions at Reformed Theological Seminary- Jackson until retirement in 1998.
Betty was a faithful member at First Baptist Church, Clinton for over 50 years. At various times during her membership at FBC Clinton, Betty served as a children’s Sunday school teacher, as well as singing in the adult choir. She also had a passion for travel and had the opportunity to see countries in 6 out of the 7 continents during her retirement.
Betty Legg was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. RA Tullos, and her brother, Richard Lee Tullos. She is survived by her husband, John W. Legg, as well as her three children, David Legg (Judy), Diane Legg Hutto Graham (Clinton), and Linda Legg Nelson (Karl). She also is survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, June 25th, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be held at 10:00am with the funeral to follow at 11:00 A.M.
