On January 10, 2022 Annie went to be with her Lord. She died at Highland Home Rehab center of complications of covid. Prior to that she was a resident of Sunnybrook retirement community where she lived since July 2021 She was a resident of Madison for 28 years.
Annie was born in Humphreys county December 2, 1930 Born into a large family during the depression built her character and shaped her work ethic and her many talents. She married Wilbur Edwin Elmore in 1949 and that’s when she always said her life really began. They started their family in Flora MS. Many happy years and happy memories were made until his death December 1993. Having retired at 62 she decided she wanted to go back to work and worked at Gayfers, McRaes and Belk. She made lots of new friends and did not retire until she was 75.
She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Cottingham (Mike), Adonis Jackson (Jimmie) and son Ed Elmore (Karissa), four grandsons Christopher Jackson, Michael Cottingham, Hunter Elmore and Troy Jackson, and great grand daughter Melissa Almendarez, her sister Ruby Downs, her brother Jerry Gilmer and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Madison and a devoted member of her Sunday school class
Truth Seekers Bible Fellowship Class.
The family wishes to thank everyone at Sunnybrook Retirement community for their kindness. Also all the nurses that cared for her, both at her hospital stays and at Highland.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 9 am to 10 am at First Baptist Church of Madison with a funeral service to follow at 10 am. Interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.
