Alice Kathryn Moore, 95, passed away in her sleep on Sunday morning, April 9, 2017, at Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She is survived by her four children, Jerry Moore (Vivien), Larry Moore, Jean Moore and Phillip Moore (Debbie), as well as seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Born on November 13, 1921, to Esther (Hall) and William Chance in Copiah County, Mississippi, she was the last living member of her immediate family. The young Kathryn graduated from Wesson High School and then worked at the Bell Telephone Company in Jackson. Soon after WWII, she married Grayson Herbert Moore, deceased, and the couple made their home in Jackson, where they lived the remainder of their lives.
Kathryn was an inspiring and devout Christian and was a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church. Previous to that she was a member of the choir and was a well-loved teacher of kindergarten children at Westview Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 12:30 to 2:00 PM at Lakewood South Funeral Home, 430 McCluer Rd, Jackson, MS. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel followed by interment at Lakewood South Memorial Park.
Mrs. Moore’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where Mrs. Moore resided for the past four years.
