Shirley Jean Westbrook

Of Jackson, MI passed away at the age of 71 on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at her home, with her family by her side. Shirley was born November 25, 1948 in Benton Harbor, MI to Rouald and Elizabeth Westbrook. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Phillip Leland Johnson Jr.; siblings, Roger Westbrook, Ernest Westbrook, Burnice Woods (oldest sister) and LuwanaSue Westbrook, Eunice Oliver and Leonard Westbrook. Shirley is survived by daughter, Jean Nicole Henderson and son-in-law, Derrick Henderson; grandchildren, London, Philnesha and Derrick Henderson Jr.; great granddaughter, Mya Stewart; siblings, Bessie Shivers and Patricia Smoot; special friend, Willie Walters and special niece, Phyllis Westbrook. Shirley accepted Christ at an early age. In 1970 she united with Noah's Ark Apostolic Church and was Baptized under the leadership of Bishop Oscar P. Walters where she served on the Nurses Guild, Usher Board and Secretary of the youth department. Her favorite song was, "I'm a Soldier in the Army of the Lord". Shirley enjoyed shopping, singing, going to church and socializing with her nieces, daughter and special friends. She also enjoyed playing her lottery and her scratch off’s. According to her wishes, cremation has been chosen. There will be a Going Home Service held at Noah’s Ark Apostolic Church (345 E. High Street Jackson, 49203) on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 12:00 noon. Family hour will be from 11:00 until the time of service. In keeping with Covid-19 guidelines, visitors will be reminded to practice social distancing and wear a face covering.
