Rose Marie Johnson

Rose Marie Johnson of Jackson, passed away at the age of 79 on Sunday, August 25, 2024. She will be remembered by her husband of 52 years, Eugene Johnson; three children, Joanne Horsley, Dawn (Tony) Thomas and Darrin (Echo) Johnson; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three siblings, David Herder, George Herder, and Susan Herder. Rose was born in Jackson, Michigan, to Herbert and Alice Herder on March 20, 1945, and lived her whole life within the Jackson area. She attended Grass Lake and then Jackson High School. Rose and Eugene were married on January 8, 1972, and together, they raised their family. She was a loving homemaker while her children attended school and then began working outside the home. She worked at K-Mart, Kroger, NCO call center, and in her church kitchen. She made many connections with the children and families that she would babysit for in the local area. She will be remembered for her German cooking and Lebkuchen Cookies. Rose had a strong faith in the Lord and was a lifelong member and an elder of St. Johns United Church of Christ.

According to her wishes cremation has taken place an a Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, at St. John's United Church of Christ (801 S. Mechanic St. Jackson MI. 49203). The family will receive friends for visitation at 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. The family would like to thank the staff at Jackson County Medical Care Facility, who took such great care of Rose and the staff of Henry Ford Hospice. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ.
