Richard "Toby" Moss

Of Jackson, Michigan, passed away at the Jackson County Medical Care Facility on Friday, July 12, 2019 at the age of 90. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 69 years, Donna Moss; two daughters, Diann (Alan) Martin of Austin, Texas and Janet (Kenneth) Pawlak of Battle Creek, Michigan; four grandchildren, Leslie (Matthew) Puckett of Portage, Michigan, Hillary Pawlak of Birmingham, Michigan, Dr. Alexander (Sophie) Martin of Boston, Massachusetts, and Kevin Martin of Singapore; two great grandchildren, Emma and Mason; two sisters, Irene Hawley of Jackson, Michigan and Betty Birdsong of Kevil, Kentucky; as well as nieces, nephews, loving family members, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Moss. Toby was born to Elliott and Ruby Moss in McCracken County, Kentucky on March 17, 1929. Mr. Moss served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge he relocated to Jackson for employment. He retired from Goodyear Tire after 30 years of service and then continued working in maintenance for Brown Street apartments. He enjoyed spending time with family, outdoor activities and NASCAR. Mr. Moss was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church (925 Backus St. Jackson, MI. 49202), where a memorial service honoring his life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends for visitation at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Ave. Jackson, MI 49202) on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. as well as from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church or to Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
