IRMO - A funeral service for Voncille “Von” L. Meetze , 88, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Salem United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Meetze died Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at home surrounded by family. Born in North, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Adam Long and Janette Bruce Neese Long. A graduate of North High School, she worked for Seibels & Bruce Insurance Co., Salem UMC as a church secretary for sixteen years. Her most impactful career was with the SC Law Enforcement Div. (SLED) as a fingerprint analyst. Von along with three others were responsible for launching the computerized criminal history department known as CCH. She retired from SLED in 1989. She enjoyed canning vegetables from the farm, gardening, beach & mountain trips with friends & family, sewing, and cooking. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. After the onset of Alzheimer's some of her favorite sayings were “you’re purdy '' and “I love you”.
Surviving are her Children, Paul Meetze (Laura), Anita Kelly (John) and Mark Meetze (Brandie); and grandchildren, Joshua Meetze (Ami), Jessica Meetze, Nicholas Rainey (Adrienne), Dylan Meetze, and Ryan Meetze.
Celebrate Momma by wearing her favorite color blue or purple (for Alzheimer’s)!
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Quinton Mathias Meetze and her fur baby, Lucky.
