Memorial service for Robert C. Walker, 79, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel in Irmo, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Walker died Sunday, May 10, 2015. Born in Roanoke, Va., he was a son of the late Marlow Kenneth Walker and Doris Custer Walker. He was a 1954 graduate of Petersburg High School and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Walker started his law enforcement career with the U.S. Border Patrol on the California/Mexican border and later became a special agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). During his years in the Border Patrol, and DEA, He was recognized for his outstanding work and dedication to the cause. He had traveled all over the world working undercover seeking to destroy the multi-billion dollar business of illegal drugs. While during his tenure with DEA, President Richard Nixon recruited him to be part of the newly formed Sky Marshall Team seeking terrorist on International flights. Bob loved the game of golf and the life-long friends he made with his golf partners. He loved Westerns and during the latter part of his life enjoyed watching the old TV shows and movies for hours on end with his beloved wife. While in his younger years, he was part of a popular barbershop quartet, loved to sing and enjoyed music. He enjoyed and loved life to the fullest, Of all things, he loved his wife, family and friends and most of all he loved to laugh.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Naysa Walker; son, Phillip A. Walker and wife, Karen; grandson, Michael A. Walker; sister, Joan W. Jones and husband Kenneth; and many nieces and nephews.
