He graduated from the University of South Carolina, Class of 1978 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He managed Wright Johnston’s Uniform Sales for over 20 years where he was loved by his colleagues for being hard-working, personable, kind to all, and for his leadership.
Above all, he was known for his intense appreciation of the outdoors, being a Carolina Gamecock, and for his ability to brighten everyone’s day. Robert Rutledge could talk to anyone and would never forget a face.
He is survived by his loving wife Cynthia Rutledge, and two daughters Lindsay and Lori Rutledge. His siblings, Ann Heltemes and husband Brad, Dennis Rutledge and wife Cathy, and Johnny Rutledge and wife Robin.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bradley Word of The Columbia Medical Group, Dr. John Story of Atrium Health Neurosciences Institute Charlotte, and Lutheran Hospice of South Carolina. The Celebration of Life is to be held at his home on Saturday, January 28th from 2-5pm.
