Born in Alabama, he was the son of Robert Edward Lee Cooper and Jean Gay Cooper.
Robert was a graduate of 71st High School, Fayetteville, NC. Robert worked in car sales and sales management for over 40 years. Recently he worked with Honda of Columbia, where he thoroughly enjoyed the other employees, managers and owners, and the work.
Robert’s proudest moments were spent with his children, and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed travelling, either flying or driving. He loved going to Maui.
Robert’s reputation was being one of the nicest, most caring and reliable people. He showed his love by feeding people. In addition to being friendly and nice, he was also somewhat of a comedian. He was always ready with a joke, or two. He could make something funny out of something sad.
Robert is survived by his wife of 31 years, Roxanne Cooper, step-son, Derrell A. Lambert, Jr., daughter, Hannah Hubbard, grandchildren, Clayton and Christopher Lambert, Noah and Savannah Hubbard, brother, Greg Barbour (Pamela) and aunt, Freddie Hobbs.
He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Maureen and Sylvia, and brother, Ricky Cooper.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Prisma Health, Richland Heart Hospital, and Cardiovascular ICU.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 300 Senate Street, Columbia, SC.
