Linda W. Suddeth, born on November 13, 1940, in Augusta, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She grew up in North Augusta, South Carolina, where she was known for her vibrant personality and ability to light up any room she entered.
Linda attended the University of South Carolina, where she initially pursued a degree in Education. Her studies took a pause when she met Jerry Suddeth, a young Engineering student from Greenville, South Carolina. The two married on March 18, 1962, and shared a devoted union spanning over 62 years. Together, they built a life in Columbia, South Carolina, and welcomed their son Charles ("Chuck") Suddeth in 1964. Linda embraced motherhood with joy and dedication.
In 1977, Linda returned to USC to complete her degree and embarked on a rewarding career as an educator in the local school district. Over two decades of teaching, she touched the lives of countless students with her kindness and humor. Her time as a teacher also brought her cherished friendships with a close-knit group of colleagues affectionately known as the "Steel Magnolias," who shared many memorable experiences together.
Linda had a passion for gardening, and was a decades long member of the Lexington County Master Gardeners' Association. From this experience she formed another very special group of friends, the "Beach Babes", who took yearly trips to Edisto Beach for over twenty years, and enjoyed weekly lunches together.
Linda was active in her community, volunteering for her local Homeowners Association and serving as a board member of that group.
Family was at the heart of Linda's life. She and Jerry were unwavering in their care for their parents, with Linda stepping away from teaching to devote herself fully to their needs. She had a special bond with her nieces, who always felt deeply loved and valued in her presence. Above all, Linda took immense pride in her grandchildren and remained actively involved in their lives.
Linda's warmth, compassion, and sense of humor left an indelible mark on all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to those who loved her.
Linda is survived by husband Jerry Suddeth, son Chuck Suddeth (wife Jeanine), brother Ken Wise, grandchildren Hannah and Ben Suddeth (mother Pansy), nieces Joanna Reece (husband Preston), Leslie Wise-Asch (husband Eli), grand-nephew Jack Reece, grand-niece Hadley Reece, and numerous cousins.
Funeral service will be held at Riverland Hills Baptist Church on Saturday, Dec 21, 2024 with a visitation at 1 PM followed by service at 2 PM.
