Karen Ann Hutchinson, 77, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019. Born June 20, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, IA, she was the daughter of the late Major “Link” Graeme Linkletter and Edith Irene Hunsinger Linkletter. Karen was the wife of the late Arthur Grady Hutchinson II.
Karen studied art at the University of Iowa and was a successful portrait artist following a career in information technology. She also enjoyed photography, genealogy, computers and, every December, dragging a 25-foot Christmas tree into the Little Mountain “cabin” she shared with Art for the annual Great Tree Party. She will be remembered for her creativity, dogged spirit, and unwavering dedication to living life on her own terms. Surviving are her son, Andrew Collins (Cristel) of Chapin, SC, and grandchildren, Owen, Nina and Elliott. Karen is also survived by brothers, Don Robert Linkletter and Merle Graeme Linkletter (Billie). She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Graeme Collins.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019, at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, 735 Old Lexington Highway, Chapin, SC 29036. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
