Joe was my neighbor back in the mid-eighties. He was so very friendly and had a slew of dark-haired beautiful daughters. He and my soon-to-be husband were friends and had worked together in another city. After my husband moved to Augusta, Joe took the liberty of introducing us and the rest. as they say, was history. We met joe and his family in 1976. We fell in love with his family ! We had so much in common with his family. Don and joe worked different jobs but we had such a connection. Missouri.. Georgia. It didn’t matter we were family. Our kids were so close in age that we even had delivery’s on the same time. We traveled together we camped together we canoed together we laughed together we loved together! He was a joy to be around. Smiling,laughing and loving his family! We miss his joy and laughter and calling us all the “lee” family. Love to Angela,Ashley,Katie,Ev,and Tonya

I remember Joey as a young boy in Aiken, SC and later in Titusville FL, also a visit to our family in Rio and to Myrtle Beach with Tatyana and Joanna. He was always happy and fun. Glad I got to know him and his family. God be with him, love you, Sue Sexton Flatow.

 First met Joe on his first trip to Kiev and then a lot of times after. Had some really good times together. Used to listen to his favorite football team via internet in Pavlograd with him, --lot of fun. Joe was a good guy!!!!!

The thing I hate the most about death is all of our firsts. The first time we change out of the clothes we were wearing the moment you stopped living. The first time we look at your body and it’s not you anymore. The first time we open our eyes to a day that the one we love is not here to see. The first time we are alone and it’s quiet. So very quiet. It’s overwhelming.

The thing that I love the most about death is all of your firsts. The first time you step out of your clothes here on Earth and into the robes given to you by God, and started living. The first time you look at your body and realize you don’t hurt anymore. The first time you open your eyes to see the Kingdom of Heaven and Jesus standing in front of you. And in Heaven,  it’s never quiet. There is always singing. Songs of love and joy. It’s overwhelming. 

Those are the firsts I choose to hang on to. The ones I cannot see but my heart can feel. They let me know you’re okay.

I love you cousin Joey! When I think of you, I think of your love for your family, fishing, and Gamecocks! Such great memories of all of us being together in Palm Coast, at football games, and family events. You loved our Mamaw so much and now you and her can dance once again 💖. So many memories with the Sexton Family. My teenage years were spent with this family. My favorite memory of Joe. Angela and I had not had our  driver’s license for long. He wanted to go with us somewhere. Angela, Joe and myself entered the entrance ramp on Lovell Road at approximately 100 mph. He expressed so many colorful words in that 5 seconds of my life. Never Ever a dull moment with that crew. Some of my fondest memories.

I was able to know and work with Joe for almost 40 years. We worked together and shared experiences at several locations in the US and internationally. 
The thing that most people remember and comment about Joe was his smile and happy disposition. I knew that no matter what the issue of the day was Joe could somehow make it seem better. He could give you one of his” Bless Your Heart” and things didn’t seem so bad. He would also take on any assignment thrown his way and make the best of it. During our years together he was everything from an inspector to Quality Assurance to Office Administration to Site Manager and he did them all well.
Josephs’ Professionalism and happy disposition left his legacy wherever he went. I know he made a lot of friends and impressions while working in Russia and Ukraine and no matter what happens in the world, those people will always remember Joes smile.
Me Kathy and our family offer our sincere condolences to Tanya, Katie and all of your family. I know there are many sad hearts right now but remember all the good and happiness that Joe has left behind and try and smile when you think about him.
The world is a little poorer today because he is gone but is a much better place because he was with us.

Little Brother, our earthly journey has ended. We have been together for almost 70 years and what a Blessing it has been.  We have done a lot and shared a lot and I am Grateful to have had such a Great Brother as you.  You used to tell me that I taught you many things, but in reality you taught me also.  A true Blessing indeed. You will be missed my Little Brother but Never Forgotten.  I will promise you that I will follow Gamecock Nation in your Honor even when they play my LSU Tigers.  My Love goes out to Tonya and your Daughter Jo Anna and Ashley, Katherine, Angela, and their Mother Eve. I am sadden to hear the news of my friend Joe's passing. We worked together, fished together, drank beer together, and most of all we laughed together. My thoughts and prayers to the entire Sexton family. Joe will surely be missed.

There were just too many memories of my good friend and business partner.  He’s the only one who could acknowledge “puke” as a revered nickname, lend out his new firebird to those drinking at Sockies for test spins, fall backward off of his chair in Ft. Apache at Callaway and never miss a word while carrying on a telephone conversation, and rock a pink tutu while stopping in a gas station on his way to our Halloween party! I remember Joe always coming to Hair Visions cookouts, he fried the fish and hushpuppies with my husband as we all laughed, joked and talked about past memories.
Joe was there at most of our Christmas parties talking with my husband and watching us make more memories.

We also had the best time at Folly Beach with Joe and Tatyana having Bloody Mary's and walking the side walk and pier. 
Joe was a devoted husband and father, he will truly be missed.
