John was born on November 15, 1926 to Charles Nye and Tressia Frump in Hillsboro, Ohio. He joined the Army on July 1946 and served in WW2. After serving in the military, he went on to have a successful career with Wright Patterson Air Force base.
John loved to spend time making up stories, watching Ohio State football, CNN, and was an avid golfer. He married Betty Jean Stout on the 19th day of June 1949. They raised two children, John Timothy Nye and Sandra Elaine Nye.
John lived the majority of his life in Beavercreek, Ohio with his son, John Timothy. His son passed away in 2016. He then moved to Charleston, SC where he lived with this daughter, Sandy Marana. They then moved to Columbia, SC on December 2015.
John is survived by his brother, Charlie Nye; his daughter, Sandy Marana and her spouse; two granddaughters, Amber Dietrich and Sara Kolb; and two great-grandchildren, Bryce and Jillian Barth.
John had a favorite saying which he left behind and that is “Tell them what they want to hear and you can never go wrong.”
