COLUMBIA - Jerry “Shorty” Bruce Minnick, 65, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021. Visitation will be from 2 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo.
Born in Columbia, he was the son of Samuel David Minnick Jr. and Elma Metz Lagrande. He graduated from Irmo High School and served in the United States Air Force from 1974-1977. He was an ASE Certified Master Mechanic and was previous owner of Shorty’s Automotive and also Broad River Auto Repair. He retired in 2018 from FedEx Express with 32 years of service in vehicle maintenance. He had a heart of gold and loved being “Hey Hey” to his adorable granddaughters. He enjoyed good food, helping others, Bass fishing, camping, hanging out in “The Shop” and could fix anything that had a motor.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Dailey Minnick; daughter, Mallory Hoover (Jeff) of Gilbert; stepdaughter, Julie West (Jeff) of Irmo; granddaughters, Nicole and Abby Hoover; brother, David Minnick (Lucinda) of Prosperity; sisters, Pamela Roakes (Jesse) of Hodges, Linda Tomczyk (Stephen) of Columbia, Susan Minick (Jimmy) of Irmo, Patricia Owen of Hobe Sound; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; infant son, Bradley Cole Minnick; and sister, Sandra Goff.
