Harold Everett Martin, 74, passed away Thursday evening, December 19, 2019. Born in Riverside, California, he was a son of the late Joseph Martin and Orilla Crippen Martin Vanderhoof. He was the husband of almost 50 years to Linda Hanson Martin.
Harold was a graduate of San Bernardino High School. Following high school, he was drafted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Munich, Germany as a chauffeur for the Company Commander. Following his discharge from the Army, Harold began his career in the grocery business as a box boy at the Alpha Beta grocery store in San Bernardino, California. The company changed names numerous times, and his career grew as well. He moved his way to clerk, meat cutter, and manager of the meat department. He decided his calling was meat cutting, which he returned to, before his retirement in 2000.
An avid outdoorsman, Harold had a love hunting, especially bear. He would take trips to Colorado allowing him the opportunity to hunt elk and deer. Harold enjoyed fishing, where throughout his life, he fished in Bass Lake, CA.
He and Linda relocated to South Carolina in 2017. Enjoying his retirement, he became actively involved at the Athlete’s Arena in Irmo, where he participated with the Rock Steady Boxing Group, and worked out with his personal trainer, Adriane. He also was a member of the Tai Chi class at Seven Oaks Park.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Linda, are brothers, Harvey Martin (Gail), and Herman Martin (Lynda). He is also survived by numerous extended family.
