COLUMBIA - Glenna Rebecca Power (Minor) Osier passed way suddenly on March 18, 2023 after spending her last day with her family shopping and enjoying the beauty of the mountains. Born on May 16, 1954 in Lexington, NC to the late Joe Parks Power and late Glenna Rebecca “Becky” Smith Power.
Glenna graduated from Ragsdale High School in 1972 and graduated with an associate’s degree from Guildford Technical School. Glenna’s life led her to South Carolina in the late 1970s, then to Berlin and England while her first husband was stationed there. Glenna returned to South Carolina in 1984 and lived in Columbia until her passing.
Glenna leaves behind her loving husband of 11 years, Christopher Osier, and a daughter Jennifer (Raymond) Minor Dunham of Simpsonville, SC. Two bonus daughters Sara (Dan) Murphy of Herndon, VA, and Emily (George) LaBelle of Lexington, SC. Her brother James Power and her sister Ava Chambers both of Kernersville, NC and a “adopted brother”, George Cannon. The true delights of her life, that referred to her as Grand G/Gigi- her grandkids- Katelyn, Cooper, Piper, Warren, Anna, Mary Lynn, and Audrey. Glenna also leaves behind her “North Carolina family” full of cousins, second cousins, and aunts and one uncle. In addition, Glenna had a special place in her heart for the Greenwood family that are not biologically related, but chosen in love.
All those that knew Glenna were her family and were met with her graciousness and love. Her career spanned multiple organizations with her leaving her mark everywhere she went from Student Life and Traffic in her days with Clemson University, to her first job in Columbia at Nexsen Pruitt, to the SC Association of Realtors, Columbia Home Builders Association, Alston Wilkes Society and Home Builders Institute, National Association of Women in Construction, to SC Association of CPAs.
Glenna grew up going to Peace United Church of Christ in Greensboro, NC until she moved to South Carolina, where Glenna became a member of Ashland United Methodist Church where she served in nursery, was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class, was a past president of UMW and remained a member until her passing. When not spending time with family, Glenna enjoyed anything on a Hallmark channel, anything starring Tom Selleck, Clemson sports and shopping (in store or on line), spending time with friends and traveling.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Ashland United Methodist Church, 2600 Ashland Rd, Columbia, SC 29210. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, March 24, 2023 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be send to Sharing God’s Love, The Columbia Women’s Shelter, or Ashland UMC’s Shepard’s Center all of which were near and dear to Glenna’s heart.
A memorial service will be held at a later time in Greensboro, NC.
