Born on December 18, 1940, in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late George Mattos and Ollie Mattos. She graduated from Greenville Senior High School, Class of 1959, in Greenville, SC and from Greenville General Hospital School of Medical Secretarial in 1960. In 1996, she graduated from Fortunate School of Real Estate in Myrtle Beach, SC and from South Carolina Realtor Institute (GRI) in 1998.
She served as a former member of Horry County Department of Social Service, Horry County Planning Commission, and Richland County Planning Commission. Lib was also the founder of the Rennie Mattos Martin Nursing Scholarship Endowment at Greenville Technical College in honor of her sister. She was also a member of Kappa Phi Delta Sorority and Chapin Christian Community Church, Chapin, SC. She was an active member within her church by volunteering to serve as an usher, Stephen Minister, and a member of the “black sheep” Sunday school class.
Lib's greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren, and family. She was known to her grandchildren as Yia Yia which was the joy to her heart.
Surviving is her son, Eddie Massey (Kim) of Peachtree Corners, GA; daughter, Kelly Easley (David) of Irmo, SC; granddaughters: Lauren Massey of Peachtree Corners, GA, Nicole Easley of Charleston, SC, and Sarah Ann Easley of Irmo, SC; and many special nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Rennie Martin and brothers, Jimmy Mattos, Tommy Mattos, and Harold Fain.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Chapin Christian Community Church. The address for the church is 415 Lexington Ave. Chapin, SC 29036. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. A private family burial will be held in Greenville, SC.
