Beth Middleton Sherer

COLUMBIA - Beth Middleton Sherer, 83, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Northeast Presbyterian Church, Columbia, SC, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Sherer was born on July 6, 1939, a daughter of the late Rev. John Willard Middleton and Selma Elizabeth Dendy Middleton. She was a graduate of Columbia College and University of South Carolina where she obtained a Master’s degree. After college, Mrs. Sherer worked as a guidance counselor for EL Wright Middle School, Columbia, SC, and was an active member of Northeast Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her loving husband, John Hemphill Sherer; daughter, LaRou Sherer Peters (Robbie); three grandchildren, Sara Jean Peters, Marie LaRou Peters (Hosea), Robert Glyndon Peters, Jr.; and a great-grandchild, Margot LaRou Hazelwood.

She was predeceased by a son, Scott Middleton Sherer and a sister, Mary Middleton Malanuk.
