Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ted Gray of Weatherford, Texas, and Tom Porter, Pastor of Lakeview Church of God, officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Iowa Park, under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Ray B was born March 1, 1928 in Megargel, Texas, to Charles Oren Stubbs and wife, Pauline Gibbs Stubbs. He lived in this area all of his life and was raised a Baptist. He was a member of Lakeview Church of God. He served in the U.S. Navy and later worked as an inspector at Sheppard Air Force Base. Ray was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. His love and passion for hunting was shown through his beautiful works of art in the guns, knives and calls he created. Upon his retirement from SAFB in 1989 he pursued his lifelong passion of hunting when he became a hunting guide on the Spike Box Ranch. He was a lifetime member of the NRA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edna Faye (Lee) Stubbs and wife, Sandra Raye Stubbs, infant twins, son, Jackie Ray Stubbs, brother, Jack W. Stubbs and sister Helen Ruth Somsel.
Ray B’s hunting skills earned him State recognition in the acclaimed Boone & Crockett Society.
Survivors include children, Marcie Williams of Wichita Falls, Texas, Scott Stubbs of Iowa Park, Texas; Carey Wright of Haltom City, Texas; and Staci Rae Wright-Williams of Wichita Falls, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
The family of Ray B would like to express their appreciation for the love and compassion shown to Ray in his latter days by his precious caregivers Doris, Monica, Felicia, Connie and the wonderful staff of Girling Hospice, formerly known as American Hospice. Memorials are suggested to Girling Hospice.
